The old saying is true “You are what you eat”
Same can be said for what we choose to read.
We are, or at least our conversations are, what we choose to read.
When we challenge our minds and stay up on current events and quality reading we elevate our vocabulary and conversation skills. Conversations are the building blocks for networking and achieving our dreams. So say goodbye to “awkward” conversations and hello to reading.
A great way to sharpen your small talk and shop talk conversation skills is to stay up on reading. What to read?
- Best sellers (sorry ladies, I’m not suggesting 50 Shades of Gray)
- Classics
- A National Newspaper
- Local Newspaper
- News blogs (Forbes, Forbes Woman, Huffington Post, etc)
So what’s on your nightstand?

We’d love to hear about your recent reads: books, papers, blogs and websites! Looking forward to learning from you.

I have been enjoying a re-read of The Fellowship of the Ring. The first time through I was captivated by the story; this time, by the language. I find it to be elevating. I am also getting acquainted with Jane Eyre having recently received a small, leather bound edition as a gift from a friend in England. The two books make for a very good reading day.
