#SheafferLiving #FallDecor Chat & Conversation Pumpkin DIY

by Mindy Lockard on October 10, 2012

This morning I’ll be popping by King 5 New Day NW to talk about simple and fun DIYs for Halloween.

I’m not much for gore, so these are more gracious than gorcious.

If gorcious is a word.

The more I think about it, I’m sure it’s not.

I digress.

Back to the Pumpkin Conversation at hand. This is a fun and easy DIY to help your family spark conversation at dinner table, afterschool or just sitting around.

What you need:

  • Foam pumpkin from craft store
  • Magnetic paint
  • Magnets
  • Paper
  • Glue Gun
  • Imagination

Lightly sand down the pumpkin, wipe it down and paint (3 to 4 coats) with the Magnetic Paint.

Using your paper (we use sparkly paper, I have a 9 and 7 year old who LOVE sparkles) draw fun faces, cut them out and with your glue gun, glue on the magnets.

Take turns having your children share about their day using the faces on the pumpkins to describe their feelings. I think we’ve all asked our children about their day only to get a “fine” or “good” but home is where we teach our children conversation skills. Skills they will use for the rest of their lives. So make talking about you days fun. You’ll love hearing about the day’s details and they’ll love making faces.
