In Memory of my Gracious Grandmother!

This past Monday the world lost an amazing soul and heaven gained an angel, her name was Joanne Fuglein but I called her Grandma.

In life there are those special people – the people who not only touch our heart but leave their mark on our soul.  As a child my grandmother tended my little soul like she did her garden.  She taught me the value of making things with my hands, the importance of investing in the children of today,  the bounty that can be had from the garden, and what it means to have a relationship with our Creator.  She loved and was loved.  And although she never attended finishing school, wasn’t rich, or a lady of leasure, my grandmother was the model of gracious living.  I always felt so lucky that she was mine!

When I was with her I was home.  However, her home was never on earth and I always knew that.  Today she is home, and truly in Heaven!!!

May we not forget the power of touching the life of a child.  When we take time to invest in a child not only do we create magic in a childhood moment but we invest in a future.  A future that will be brighter because of you and my Grandmother!

That is lovely Mindy, and she certainly touched the lives of many children, me included, but also of many of all ages with her love, tenderness, and kind heart. One of my favorite memories was going to spend the weekend with her in Yuma when I was 18. What a treasure to have her all to myself! She always had that comforting, joyful peace about her and a gracious way of giving all she touched a piece of it to carry with them in life. Peace, Love, and Blessings, Shay :)

So true Shay! I stayed a week when I was 18 and that week changed my life. Thank you so much for sharing your memories of her.

This is a wonderful tribute Mindy. I’m sure she loved being your grandmother as much as you loved being her granddaughter. That is such a special relationship for children, isn’t it? Hugs honey. xoxo

Minz,

That is a beautiful memory. The irony is scrolling down past the tree flocking! Mom had a flocked tree every year and left it up until February, threatening to hang Valentine’s on it!! She was thrifty, and loved her tree! Grandma JO is looking down on you, utterly amazed and SO proud! I am sure she is dragging all of her friends and Jesus to your site right now.. “Just look at that”!!

I am so blessed that God gave me YOU! I Love You!!
