A Surprise…that’s a First!

Shhhh... it's a surprise!

I’ll keep this post short and sweet. I have to or I will be a puddle on the floor. My darling little Elle is going to be in the first-grade.  Tissue, please. No really. I’m typing with one hand reaching for tissue with the other.

A couple of weeks ago I visited the one of my favorite blogging friend’s blog (say that five times), Hoo-Dee-Hoo written by the fabulous Meredith Sinclair. This particular day, Meredith had posted a clip of her appearance on Chicago’s ABC 7 morning show where she shared fabulous finds for back-to-school. One of the finds was the KinderCone, a traditional German gift given to a child graduating from Kindergarten or starting First Grade.

This will come as no surprise. Since I love all things tradition,  an order was placed right away.  Within a few days the first day of school surprise, along with a handwritten thank-you note from the company’s founder, was on my doorstep.  I’m not sure which I love more, the note or the cone… What I do know is that I can hardly wait to surprise Elle with the sweet cone at her place setting for our traditional First Day of School family breakfast.  She is going to love it! I’m going to bawl like a baby…

But, enough about me, my KinderCone, and random episodes of crying my eyes out. I’m really here to show you Meredith and her fabulous finds.  She is fantastic and if you haven’t visited Hoo-dee-Hoo, you really must. Really. Must!

Thanks sister!
Enjoy that lovely first day of school…it is truly something to behold. And allow yourself to weep with joy and the simple realization of how far you’ve both come.
hugs,
m
And how cute is that picture of you with the cone??

Should I do this ? I found your blog and “my” KinderCone with the cutest picture and wanted to say thanks all over again 🙂
About that note: I really am so happy that you mentioned that because I thought this to be so super important, I want to let the kids know how special they are – growing up and going to first grade! I will really try to keep these notes in all my orders, even when I have many of them (one day I hope)
I am working on next year’s back to school season and if you have any ideas and suggestions, please let me know.
I also have a blog that I am writing, very new to it but if you would like to check it out:
http://www.blog.kindercone.com
I will put your link onto mine.
