Calling cards have emerged as a hot trend, but calling cards as a social networking tool have been around since their first appearance in early Chinese culture. Known as ming tzhu (name card) or pai theigh (visiting card), these wooden cards bore a person’s name. Sometime around the fifth or sixth dynasty, the wood was replaced by paper, and the cards began including name, title, and town.
