Day 2 of 12 Days of Gracious Living: Hostess Gifts

by Mindy Lockard on December 7, 2012

Today I’m joining the FOX 12 Oregon MORE Good Day Oregon crew to share my thoughts and favorites when it comes to giving Hostess Gifts.

Here are a few tips and the treasures I will be sharing…

  1. A hostess gift is to say “Thank you” for the invite, while a thank-you note in the mail says thank you for the party.
  2. Keep a stock of gifts on hand to stay on budget and never arrive empty handed
  3. When possible, support small and local

Here are a few local Portland treasures:

Whether you are from Portland or not, you  and your hostess will enjoy the art and wonder of our quirky yet wonderful city month-after-month through the eyes and lense of the very talented Oregon Girl, Erin Gustafson. This is a perfect Holiday party gift and especially great for those New Year Parties!

Kelly’s Jelly

Kelly’s Jelly is one of my Farmers’ Market favorites! Every Saturday I can count on seeing her and her darling family selling her very delicious Pepper Jelly. This is one of my favorite items to have in my hostess gift pantry!

Moonstruck Chocolates

Our family LOVES Moonstruck! Many a “mom and daughter” date happens at the Moonstruck shop in our little village. We love giving these little chocolates to hostesses of all ages. In fact, I think these festive chocolates are the perfect gift to give for children’s holiday parties. Teaching and treating is a win win for everyone!

How darling are these?

New Seasons Market

A local Portland favorite is New Season’s Market! So for all of our Portland Peeps, while you are out crossing off your grocery list you can also pick up a few treasures like toffee nuts, potted plants, handmade ornaments and locally crafted candles to have on hand and give at your next Holiday Party!

These are great ideas, Mindy! And thank-you for the reminder that “A hostess gift is to say “Thank you” for the invite, while a thank-you note in the mail says thank you for the party.”
