DIY: Halloween Pump’can’ Carving Invites!

One of my favorite fall traditions is our annual pumpkin carving party! For the past four years we have been inviting the same friends to BYOP and join us for some  pre-Halloween festivities.

Last year around Halloween I was in the thick of developing my inspiration board for the redesign of our home on the web.  With my creative energy immersed in Domino Magazines (those were the good old days) and hours of sketching illustrations for the site, our carving invitations were set on the back burner.  Needless to say, the invitation ended up being extended very late and by e-mail.  So this year, in hopes of redeeming the Lockard family entertaining name, we are hand delivering Pump’can’ Party invites complete with carving tools.

First We Gathered Our Supplies

supplies-ii1

  1. Quart Sized Paint Cans
  2. Avery Full Sheet Mailing Labels
  3. Ribbon
  4. Small clear gift bags
  5. Carving Utensils (1.00 at a big box store…starting with “w”)

Next we created our designs using Microsoft Word and printed them on the Avery label paper.

First the invitations…

and then clip art pictures  for the packaging.

After we cut them out, we stuck the invitation to the front of the can. Next, we assembled the carving utensils in the small bags, sealed with the clip art sticker and stuffed them in the cans.

Finally, we tied them with a ribbon and  packed a tote for our door-to-door delivery!

Now, I just hope they “can” make it!

Adorable Mindy!!
You’ll have to post some pics of the big night.
I would LOVE to get one of those on my door step:)

That is the cutest thing ever! I love it! I could see using this idea for birthday parties (decorate your own cookies or cupcakes), or a Christmas cookie exchange. You could include cookie cutters, sprinkles, etc. Okay, now I’m inspired…..

Thanks ladies! Dana, I love the Christmas cookie exchange with a cookie cutter inside! And, Meredith, I will post pictures from the party for sure! I appreciate both of you stopping by.
