Final Gracious Giveaway: We Love Lilly Pulitzer

by Mindy Lockard on October 7, 2011

I have a confession…

For a moment, I was trying to figure out how I could keep this giveaway for myself.

Take Friday off.

Enter myself.

Ask my mom to post multiple entries…

No, I’m not proud of it. And yes, it feels so much better to get it out in the open {wink}!

But it simply wouldn’t be gracious to keep this great giveaway for myself when it’s for you…

I adore Lifeguard Press! You might remember the breakfast they hosted for Dylan Lauren where she and I talked wedding etiquette or my August “Packing Healthy Lunches” segment I did with their darling lunch boxes. All Lifeguard Press.

Anyhoo, they are at it again and this time with these darling Lilly products! Whether it’s for Back-to-Campus or just to spice up your home office, this fabulous trio will be sent to one lucky reader. Just drop a note below and let me know your favorite home organizational tip–whether you actually do it or not! I can’t wait to hear!

Check back Monday when we will share all five Gracious Giveaway winners.

In our mudroom we have labeled hooks & baskets for each family member’s hats, scarves, coats, keys, etc. It makes getting out the door so much easier 🙂

When you buy new clothes be sure to donate old ones. Keeps from an overcrowded closet while helping others.

Wow, I hope I win this one! I love Lilly and Lifeguard Press. I just got accepted to go back to school and I’m super excited. I’m starting an Early Childhood Education degree in the Spring because I want to be a kindergarten teacher. These goodies would be such a nice treat to tote around campus!

The best home organizational tip I’ve ever found is to clean your home according to the Mount Vernon method. Start at the front door and clean in a circle, starting at the entryway of every room and working your way around each room and throughout the house. If you do a little bit every day, continuous cleaning ensures too much clutter never piles up anywhere.

Thanks for organizing these giveaways, Mindy! It’s very gracious of you. 😉

Kind of general, but I find the old adage of “A place for everything and everything in its place” to be very true!

Keep a basket for the week’s mail right next to a small paper shredder (only about 50 bucks at Office Depot for a good one). Then choose one day a week to go through the mail that has stacked up in the basket. Set aside bills and other important mail you need to deal with and then shred everything else. I am the most disorganized person ever, and this is the one thing I do to keep myself sane when the mail starts piling up. Shredding can be very therapeutic.

First things first–some sort of shoe organizer is a must! Also I love having a magnetic whiteboard calendar on my fridge. It helps to have everyone’s schedule in one place and also make lists for groceries and things to buy.

I like to knit so I always have a bunch of miscellaneous yarn about. Using cute baskets makes the room look more put together, even if I just end up throwing the yarn in the basket without organizing it ; ) Cute giveaway!!

*Reduce*Reuse*Recycle before, during, or after buying something new. And I have bins for specific recycling. Recycling here isn’t as easy as “kicking it to the curb”; I have to make a choice to recycle our trash.

It sound kind of dorky- but I love the Ma Ingalls way of having a day for each chore. It keeps me from being overwhelmed and trying to do it all on Saturday!

A tip I really wish I followed was to have a day to do certain things around the house, so you aren’t cleaning or organizing A TON AT ONCE!! ugh.

My household is quite small (just me!) so my favorite tip is to write out checklists. Helps me keep organized and remember to get things done. (I actually use the Lilly organizer to help with this) xo

Celeste 10.08.11 at 9:43 am

I use plastic bins in the refrigerator to corral like items. (:

Lady 10.08.11 at 12:47 pm

My favorite organization tip is meal planning, I write out my menu and list groceries so that my Monday grocery shopping goes smoothly and I’m never wondering “what’s for dinner tonight?”.

My top home organizational tip(s) is/are to clear any clutter by donating things you do not need or do note use, use labeled bins to store everything from clothes to purses to crayons and markers so they are not in the way when you do not need them but you can find them easily when you do need them, put away all spring and summer clothes and shoes neatly and bring out all of the fall and winter clothes so that you have more space, and get shelves put in all of your closets so that everything has its own space and you always know where to find everything, all of these tips save time and space making your life easier:) THANK YOU:D!!!
