Holiday #DIY | New Day Northwest

I’m back in the emerald city, Seattle for our annual Holiday #DIY segment on New Day Northwest.  Here are the tips and tricks we discussed!

Holiday Card Display

Window Display


  • Windows
  • Wood Glue
  • Clothes Pins
  • Spray Paint

Step one – sand window and wipe it down

Step two – with wood glue, glue on clothes pins

Step three – spray paint

Step four – pin up Holiday cards from friends and family

(the cards used in this post are all from Cardstore! Darling, no?)

Holiday Garland


What you need:

  • Fabric
  • Twine
  • Clothes Pins

Step one – Measure twine to desired length

Step two -rip fabric into strips

Step two – tie fabric onto twine at equal lengths creating a color pattern or simply a plain garland

Step three – hang photos with clothes pins


Place Card Holders


What you need:

  • Wood discs
  • small clothes pins
  • Pine cones
  • Paint
  • Glitter
  • Paper
  • Ribbon
  • Glue
  • Glue gun

Step one – hot glue clothes pin to the the side of a wood disc

Step two – hot glue the bottom of the pine cone to the wood disc

Step three – spray paint, top with glitter and let dry

Step four – Print out your guests names and cut them out

Step five – Glue the names onto a piece of specialty paper tied with ribbon and pin in clothes pin


Family Photo Booth


  • What you need
  • striped straws
  • glitter paper or any other fun craft paper
  • glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Polaroid
  • Film
  • Canvas
  • Pins
  • Gold letters

Step one – spell out fun saying “A Merry Wish” “dreams” “Gratitude” in gold letters and stick to canvis

Step two – cut out fun shapes: glasses, mustaches, ties, bows etc and hot glue to a paper striped straw

Step three – set up photo booth and snap fun photos

Step four – write your “Merry Wish” for the season and hang on the canvas board
