Lunch is on me…

by Mindy Lockard on June 22, 2009

While lunching in Del Mar, California over the weekend my friends and I were recipients of a random act of kindness. When our server delivered our salads and sandwiches she also delivered this…

business-card

and let us know that our lunch had been taken care of. Now this wasn’t a creepy bar scene where the guy at the end of the bar sends over a round drinks with a wink and a smile. It was simply a gentleman being kind. He didn’t make a loud announcement or wait until the server handed us the card to wave until we noticed him. No, he unassumingly extended this gesture and was gone before we could say anything. Aside from being treated to lunch (always fun) it made us pause and think about what it means to pay it forward and the power of being kind without receiving any praise or glory in return. That my friends is the spirit of kindness the heart of manners. Can I get an amen?

And, to you Mr. Bob – where ever you are – thank you for lunch and referring to me as young! Both greatly appreciated.

Love hearing about random acts of kindness – it makes me think about little things I can do for others.

Ok, I cannot stand it. You were in Del Mar? My sister-in-law lives in Del Mar right up on the hill. I just sent a link to your blog to her & told her how refreshing it is to see young moms paying close attention to manners. Tell me next time you go out there. OK?
