This was delivered to me yesterday. Now, I’m not one to gush over a posed soccer picture, trust me. It’s said that a picture is worth 1000 words and for me this picture says it all.
My mom once said, “Enjoy these times Mindy as you will look back on these days as the best in your life!” At that sleep deprived moment it took everything in me not to burst into tears. Looking at this picture makes me realize how fast it’s going. Although this season can feel a bit like the movie Groundhogs Day, it also provides funny moment, after funny moment.
A moment from yesterday…
Me (a bit frazzled): Maggie, have you seen mommy’s credit card compact?
Maggie: Oh, yeah, I had it when I was a baby!
Me: Mags, I need you to think really hard… have you seen mommy’s little silver case?
Maggie: I think I put it in the dumpgeon!
Me: We don’t have a dungeon (thank you Barbie Diamond Castle)…
Maggie: IIIIIIII ttttthhhhhiiiink sissy took it! Yeah, yeah, sissy!
Me: Okay, let’s not throw your sister under the bus. Please, help mommy retrace her steps.
Needless to say after a morning of nearly tearing my house apart looking for the compact, going through both our inside and outside garbage and tracking aged blue cheese (that I accidentally stepped in) through my house. I retraced my steps and found the compact tucked in a cookbook I was using the previous evening – doesn’t everyone store their credit cards in the bread and pastry section of a cookbook? With the case of the missing compact fresh on my mind and this photo in hand I realized my mother is right! When I choose to focus on the monotony, I miss the magic. I will look back on these days as some of the best in my life, dumpgeon and all!
