Manners Police?

by Mindy Lockard on August 15, 2010

What happens when we break a “manners” rule?

We don’t get pulled over.

Like what happened on a recent trip out of town when I me, myself, and my foot were a little too excited to be on our way to see my family.

We don’t have to tote our children to city hall…

and we pay for that ticket with a large amount of cash causing our youngest to cry for fear that there won’t be any money left for groceries that week.

All three Lockard ladies were reminded of a few life lessons and they all had to do with what happens when we go too fast.

Although you won’t find me at your doorstep with my pen and gracious living ticketing pad–that is if I had one. What happens in life when we go too fast?  Although it doesn’t cost us money, what else might it cost us?

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

This is a good topic. I’m going to have to think about this a bit.

Hi, Lady, I can’t wait to see what you come up with. It’s going to be great, I’m sure of it!

I like this… I mean not the ticket part… my husband and I both got parking tickets last week, at the same time. (I know it’s not the same, but still) I do like the way your thinking though. I know that when I go too fast in life… when I rush my kids…I miss out on them. Some days I put my son to bed and think, ‘I don’t know if I hugged you today.’ I miss out on teaching them to be the people I would like them to be. Every time I rush them out the door, I think about how I don’t want them to learn that this is the way one goes out of the house. I want them to learn to leave home being ready for the world in a calm effortless manner. And let me just tell you that the way I am doing things with my 2,4,and 6next wed. year olds, is in no way: ready, calm, or effortless. This really gives me a lot to think about…. thanks(sincerely)
