When Clients Call. . .

by Mindy Lockard on August 5, 2012

Last week in the middle of an hourlong workout I noticed a call coming in on my cell — I always have my phone on silent at the gym, after all it’s the gracious thing to do.

It was one of my one-on-one social skills clients who had recently interviewed for a job. I hopped off the elliptical machine to take the call.

“Mindy, I got it” she said, “I got the JOB! I tried calling my mom but I couldn’t reach her, so I’m calling YOU!”

We have been working together for the past 8 months focusing on non-verbal behavior, developing conversation skills, building a verbal filter, resume editing, practicing interview skills with the S.T.A.R. method, shopping for interview attire, and all along helping her celebrate her strengths and not fear her weaknesses.

So, I did what any mom or social coach would do. There huddled in a corner of my gym — looking like a crazy lady but not caring — I CELEBRATED her and her new  J-O-B!!!

I love my work and consider it a gift to walk alongside my clients as they work hard, walk tall and achieve their dreams!

Isn’t life grand?!

Dearest Mindy,

SURE, that was a grand reason for celebrating her and her new job. You ought to be proud too.
Hugs and love to you,
