New Day NW: Entertaining Etiquette “Sticky Vase” DIY

by Mindy Lockard on August 23, 2012

I’m back at KING 5 New Day NW today…

Today, we are talking about DIFFAglam Seattle, Entertaining Etiquette and I will be sharing a few Fall Gracious Living DIYs that I have up my sleeve!

This DIY is a great way to include your children in the entertaining process and to add a fun earthly element to your table.

Earthy in the most sophisticated way of course {wink}!

After all, it’s good to be Graciously Green!

What you will need:

  • Ribbon
  • Empty tin can (make sure the open end is free of sharp pieces of tin)
  • Moss
  • Sticks
  • Glue Gun
  • Flowers

First I had my two helpers hunt for sticks…

and gather moss.

Next we wrapped the top and bottom rims of the can with ribbon and secured it hot glue (this part is mom’s job).

Then glued sticks all of the way around the can…

and filled in the spaces with a drop of hot glue and a little moss.

Wrapped up our “sticky vase” by arranging our favorite fall flowers! And there you have it Gracious Girls, a vase that’s perfect for the center of a table or to take as a hostess gift for your next fall dinner party.

Elle and Maggie were so proud of their handiwork that they’ve asked to take them for the first day of school!

Check back next week for our Wine Bottle Menu… among other ideas for Gracious Living!

Happy hostessing!
