A Star-Spangled Manner not just for the Fourth…

by Mindy Lockard on July 3, 2009

I’ve always had a soft spot for our Country’s National Anthem…

Me circa 1984

Don’t forget when the Anthem plays this weekend to show respect and gratitude by:

  • Standing
  • Facing the flag
  • Removing your hat
  • Placing your hand over your heart or
  • Saluting
  • And singing along (here are the words if you need a quick refresher)

It’s more than a simple act.  It’s a physical response of respect and appreciation for the freedom our flag stands for and showing gratitude to those who have fought for that freedom risking or losing their lives in the pursuit.

How fortunate we are to live in such a land and to be the inheritors of freedom bequeathed to us by generation after generation of the brave! When we stop and think about it, showing apprecation for that gift is the least we can do!

Wishing you a safe and happy Fourth!  God Bless America!

How fabulous are you?!? Such a sweet photo, a wonderful lesson in Anthem etiquette and a great reminder about why we celebrate! Thank you so much and I hope you and yours had a safe and happy Fourth!

Thank you Wendy! It was a moment I will carry with me for my lifetime. My mother was so gracious with me, I hounded her to contact the Trailblazers for months and finally she let me call…the rest is history! It’s so nice to hear from you.
