I have lived in my house for 10 years. 10 years and I haven’t hung one photo on our walls. 10 years, of being afraid of putting a hole in a new, or what later became a not so new paint job. It may also have something to do with past “hammer attempts” and my stud finding instincts.
Not to be confused with these stud finding instincts.
Anyway, no matter the reason, it’s been 10 years of our walls feeling… well you know the dream where you go to school or work naked. Everyday. For 10 years. And for that I’m truly sorry. You can imagine their relief when last week’s photo request came and I remembered my sister’s easy picture perfect project. Perfect, as in a perfect and affordable way to dress-up our walls in precious moments from the past 12 years.
What will you need…
- Pictures — I sized them in Microsoft Word based on the sizes of canvas and printed them in sepia colors on my computer just using regular paper. My sister had her pictures sized and printed professionally on photo paper.
- Spray glue and glue stick (to paste down edges that curl)
- Different shapes of canvas.
Next we sprayed the canvas with glue (oh and when the packaging reads wear gloves, I strongly suggest not taking it as a “suggestion”)
trimmed the photos to fit the canvas sizes and applied them to the canvas…
and pressed down the edges.
Finally, we laid them out…
and hung them up.
I’m still trying to figure out why it took me so long and honestly, so is my stud, who loves them by the way. I encourage you to get going on the little projects that you’ve been putting off, you won’t be sorry you did them, just that it took so long to get started!
