My bag carries a lot – its my work bag, and will usually end with a few toys and snacks for my three year old, and anything that my 17 year old doesn’t want to carry. It carries, files, wallet, first aid kit, notebooks, pens, crayons, water bottles, etc. I usually try to sort out anything I don’t need each night and at least once a week i take a small hand vacuum to the bag to take out any crumbs or lint, or whatever that could be at the bottom of the bag.

I hear you Elizabeth about a bag for all occasions! Love the idea of a small hand vacuum… brilliant!

My current summer handbag was a recent birthday gift from my sister and is a lovely Michael Kors mustard-color straw bag with leather handles and trim. It’s large (which is both good and bad) and serves as beach bag, with towels, flip flops, and an iPad. It always holds a wallet, leather envelope for receipts, a lipstick case, keys, iPhone, gum, hair ties or clips, comb, nail file, checkbook, pocket magnifier, and a Waterman fountain pen (black barrel with a silver-plated cap with gold-plated trim and an 18kt nib). Daily, I clean out accumulated stuff and, weekly, empty the bag, shake it out, then gently wipe the straw and the leather handles with a damp cloth.

My purse is fairly small, so it fits inside the tote I take to work along with my lunch and a few other things. The current purse is a smallish red Liz Claiborne number. In addition to phone, pen, small notebook, ipod, earbuds, small coinpurse/wallet, inhaler, bamboo foldoing fan (essential for perimenopausal hot flashes!), comb and two fabric pouches for miscellaneous little makeup things, it’s just big enough to slip the Kindle along the side.

Receipts are pulled out every couple of days, the inside brushed out every two weeks or so. Most of the time it is inside the work tote; unless my lunch explodes, the outside of the purse doesn’t need a regular cleaning.

I have to wipe the outside of my purse regularly as I travel a lot and just seem to be a bit hard on my purses so I always keep Armor All Leather wipes handy-they are perfect 🙂

Thanks so much for the great contest!

I very rarely clean the outside of my bag and if I do I just wipe it down. Now the inside is a whole different story my version of cleaning it out is switching purses.
