It’s a Party and You’re Invited!

by Mindy Lockard on May 6, 2009

You’re here!! We’ve been expecting you and are so glad you made it to our online launch event! Our team has been working –sometimes around the clock–to bring the new look of the magazine and to fruition! Rather than trying to fit all of you in one room, and coordinate airfare and lodging, we thought it would be easier and more convenient to bring this launch to you. So, put on your party hat, dim the lights and enjoy…

What is After years of parents cornering Mindy after classes with questions about their children, and receiving countless questions over e-mail after professional programs, we created magazine a simple way to proactively learn about gracious living! Mannerofthe magazine makes the information accessible and not too fussy. With your subscription you have a nationally recognized etiquette consultant at your finger tips and each issue focuses on one area of gracious living, along with reading recommendations and tools for making the manner come alive in your home and life. Parents and professionals have questions in everyday situations, Mindy has the answers. Manner of the Month is a simple and affordable way to polish social skills and equip you and/or your children with tools for success! The value is not so much in knowing what fork to use (although we do deliver the nuts and bolts of etiquette rules…we all need reminders), but more in the way that gracious living brings us together and encourages us to experience our relationships and interactions in a more meaningful way. Is there anything more important?

tablesettingThose who subscribe today will receive two door prizes: one of the helpful refrigerator magnets featured in the video as well as two months free (for annual subscription)! It’s just our way of saying thank you! Subscription is easy and affordable, for the cost of a latte you will have an entire magazine chock-full of quick tips and resources designed to make gracious living fun and empowering!

Dear Mindy,

The video is charming and informative and further reinforced why I subscribed to Manner of the Month. It’s not stuffy or snooty, it’s respectful and graceful. Thank you!

Your girls are adorable and the part where Elle whispers to Maggie at the end (after M tattles on her about chewing with her mouth open) is hilarious and priceless!

Carol Bory 05.06.09 at 7:46 am

Way to go my friend! It’s lovely, just like you.
…my favorite moment was Elle telling Mags, “Let’s not talk about that here.” I think I’ve heard someone else say that before… They have such a good role model.

Hugs and love,

On a reply on a blackberry/PDA is it OK to make your replys short and to the point? How short and to the point?

Sara 05.06.09 at 4:23 pm

Hello Mindy,

Fabulous job! I love the video, site and blog. You are doing an amazing job and I cannot wait to see what is in store for you. Best, Sara

Marialexandra 05.06.09 at 4:29 pm

Hi Mindy,
I stopped by, as promised, to take part of the Q&A, and instead got carried away looking around the site instead. It is beautiful, and so elegant. The video of the launch is great, and your daughters are adorable! I also learned the illustrations on the site are yours, amazing, they are great! Congratulations on everything! I love what you do and think it is something so needed and that so few people value in today’s society. I wish you all the luck in the world, and when Oprah calls, let me know & I will dress you!
Warmest regards,

Cheryl 05.06.09 at 4:34 pm

This a wonderful site and so nicely organized. Ryan is absolutely right, this needs to be on Oprah’s Favorite Things list, I know it is now on mine! What a great realization of all your hardwork.

All the best,

Matthew Janzen 05.06.09 at 4:41 pm

Mindy, who cuts your hair? It looks fab! And what is the appropriate amount to tip one’s hair stylist to ensure that one looks fab after the next visit?

Liesel 05.06.09 at 4:54 pm

Mindy, love the site and all of the changes. Cheers to your success and hard-work paying off! Liesel

Gigi Belmonico 05.06.09 at 4:58 pm

Mindy–I am SO proud of you!! Your site is fabulous –all the more so because of your lovely artwork! The video was terrific and what a joy to see your precious girls and loved ones. Thank you for making a difference in the world!! You are a beautiful Bombshell inside and out my dear. I wish you all the success and joy-filled blessings you so richly deserve.
All the best,

Gigi 05.06.09 at 5:02 pm

Hello Mindy! A few questions if I may–what should I do or say (if anything) about a girlfriend that a) talks VERY loudly into her cell phone and b) does this at the table in the restaurant. Yes. Really.
My other question is more of a pet peeve–why do people feel the need to text and twitter while dining??
Thank you!

Amy Londahl 05.06.09 at 5:36 pm

Hi Mindy (and girl Friday),

I have an interesting, but what I think, common question…I recently got my nails done at a salon. The worker was really nice and very personable but the work was not that great. I have had the same situation with someone who has cut my hair. The lady was very nice and we had a great chat, but the haircut was nothing like I asked for. What should I do? I feel like this could be a common situation.

Hollie 05.06.09 at 5:39 pm

Congratulations, Mindy! This is so exciting for you. As I have said before, you are a completely gifted woman. Thank-you for sharing it all with us!
And congratulations to GirlFriday, also, for being such a special part of your endeavor.

Alicia 05.06.09 at 5:39 pm

Hey girls!

I love the site – looks great. I’ve got a question for you. You and your husband are friends with another couple that fights in front of you all the time. Is there a polite way to ask them to stop this without hurting their feelings?

Lisa Porter 05.06.09 at 6:01 pm

Mindy…Job well done and you have only just begun!
Just spent some time at your launch. Loved the message, loved the videos…smart idea.
Good to see you surrounded by family and good friends.
Your mom must be proud!
All the best my dear you have worked very hard, heart & soul, and it shows.

Congrats on your web launch today!!! WELL DONE!
Which etiquette book was on the top of the stack, right next to your computer, in your video? I collect etiquette books as well and don’t recognize that one. Any other ‘unique’ ones that you can recommend? One of my favorites is “The Rituals of Dinner” by Margaret Visser.

Hi Mindy,
Nice to ‘meet’ you! What a fabulous introduction to your website. Loved the video. It really gave me good insight as to what your site is all about (and you have fun friends and darling kids… loved the ‘let’s not talk about that here’ comment!!)

Congratulations! I’ve often thought of doing my own launch party for I always feel though like it’s just not quite ready for a big launch yet! I guess I need to just do it. Thanks so much for sharing.

admin 05.07.09 at 5:13 am

Hello, Cheryl, Thank you for taking the time to visit your launch party. And, let me be the first to say welcome to! Your kind words mean the world to me! Thank you for your support.
